1977 - Criswell - Wynn x sdlg - 24” - 4.5” - EM - Diploid - Dormant - Extended - Light yellow self with green throat.
This beautiful old cultivar is ancestral to most of the flat, yellow Siloam cultivars and through them all the flat and relief types that descend from tetra Siloam Medallion (information from personal communication with Curt Hanson). It is still an attractive, eye-catching cultivar with a lovely lemon yellow flower. The plant is senescent (dormant) and it is attractive and a fast increaser.
The plant is fertile both ways in my garden, though pollen has been a little bit easier than pods for me. I have observed good rust resistance and have seen reports to the same effect. The plant has breeding value for resistance as well. I have produced resistant seedlings from it and many of its descendants in the Siloam line, and descended from them, show some resistance.
