Oceans Eleven is a beautiful flower on a nice plant and short scapes. It is useful for the front of the garden or a border, and it is a useful breeder. The foliage is semi-evergreen and the plant is hardy, but it can have some damage from late spring freezes. The flower is yellow with a layered lavender eye and a bright green throat. The midribs have a slight flush of lavender also.
The plant is a fast increaser for me and recovers well from division. It has been fertile both ways for me and I have raised some nice seedlings from it. I do have reports of others finding it to be fertile both ways, and of a few breeders that couldn’t get it to set pods, so this may be some environmental difference at work.
Oceans Eleven is rust resistant for me, and I have multiple reports of it being rust resistant in other gardens, even in the deep south. I have produced a good number of resistant seedlings from it, especially when crossed with other resistant types. I have also seen it produce seedlings with beautiful broken-patterning in the eye.
