Lavender Arrowhead

Lavender Arrowhead

Stamile – 1999 - [STAR OF INDIA X (STAR OF INDIA x TETRA GREEN WIDOW)] – 36” – 9” flower - lavender with chartreuse watermark above chartreuse yellow appliquéd throat – UFO crispate - early/mid – fragrant – Tet – evergreen

Lavender Arrowhead is an excellent unusual form with a unique silver/lavender color that is pretty and a nice foil for light yellow flowers. The foliage is evergreen, but the plant is hardy here and does very well in my garden. Lavender Arrowhead is a good breeder for spider types, being in the background of a great many of the Stamile tetraploid spiders.

Lavender Arrowhead has been consistently rust resistant here in my garden and can produce seedlings that are also rust resistant. I have multiple reports of this one showing rust resistance in many gardens in both the north and the south. Star of India, which is the pod parent and pollen “grandmother” of Lavender Arrowhead, has also shown rust resistance for me, as do several of the other offspring and descendants of Star of India.
