Harwood – 1997 – [(Blue Lustre x Really Lizzie) X Regal Finale] – Dip – 23” – 7” – Mid – Frag – Sev – Re - Ext – Burgundy purple with a yellow cream halo and a very green throat
I love Laura Harwood. It is one of the best of the Super Purple family, descending from that family through Regal Finale. It is a good plant and a beautiful flower. The scapes are short, so it is great for the front of the garden or borders. It will throw seedlings with taller scapes when crossed to taller things. The plant is attractive and increases quickly. The foliage is semi-evergreen and the plant is very hardy here in my garden and is said to be hardy in both southern and northern gardens.
Laura Harwood is fertile both ways and produces nice seedlings. It is very rust resistant here for me and I have many accounts of it being resistant in many gardens in both the north and the south. It produces resistant seedlings, and a good percentage of them, when outcrossed to equally or more resistant things.
