Brocaded Gown is an old classic that shows a lovely crepe effect to the flower. It is an excellent grower that forms a clump quickly. It is very hardy in my winters, but as a semi-evergreen, it is reported to do very well quite far south, as well as into the north.
The plant is fertile both ways and has produced many registered seedlings over the years. Brocaded Gown has been shown to have rust resistance in many field trials, and I have observed high resistance from it also. I have raised several rust resistant seedlings from Brocaded Gown, and many of its offspring show rust resistance as well.
